If you’ve had time to go through and complete the sequel to Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us, hang on to your shivs, because patch update 1.05 is bringing some epic additions that will alter your game-play experience, if not, elevate your gaming experience with The Last of Us II.
The most exciting, anxiety-causing update will be Permadeath mode. This mode of play only gives you 1 life to complete the game, if you die… that’s it, you’re done! This being said, if completing the entire game in one go is too daunting, there are options to choose a per-chapter or per-act basis; so, one life to complete a chapter, if you die, then it’s back to the start of that chapter.
Also included in the update is the return of Grounded Difficulty. This level of difficulty was seen in the first Last of Us, and is a mode that will test the most legendary players. This mode makes enemies deadlier, scare materials and ammo, no Listen mode and enemies are harder to kill.
Other cool things included in the update are 30 new graphic rendering modes. You can experience TLOU II through the eyes of different filters like an 8-bit filter, black and white noir filter and other trippy effects.
For an additional twist on game-play, there are unlockable game-play modifiers like Infinite Crafting, Slow Motion, 8-bit audio, 4-bit audio, One Shot death, Disable listen mode and more! Here’s the full list of game modifiers (Remember, these can only be accessed once the game has been completed via the Extras menu!)
