Fortnite may have disappeared from Apple’s app store and the Google Play store, however you can still play Fortnite on your mobile device (albeit Android only for now).
Why did Fortnite disappear from the App Store and Google Play Store?
Epic Games began offering new payment choices that offered lower prices, as a result, Apple and Google blocked the chance for gamers to update their Fortnite apps. Epic Games believe that players should have the choice of payment where they can save up to 20%, Apple disagrees.
How can I play Fortnite on my mobile device?
Currently, you can only play Fortnite on Android devices. The game isn’t available through the Google Play Store, you’ll have to download from the Epic Games website or Samsung Galaxy Store in order to play.
How to install Fortnite on your Android phone
- Go to the Galaxy Store and install the Epic Games app or visit the Epic Games website and scan the QR code (if you’re on desktop). If you’re on your phone, you should see the option to download the app.
- You may be prompted to open up your settings, which will have an option to select ‘allow from this source’. This must be turned on in order for the Epic Games app to be installed. Once you slide this on, hit the back arrow, then the app should launch.
- When in the app, select Fortnite, then ‘install game’. It will then download and install the game on your phone.
What are the minimum Android specifications for Fortnite?
According to the Epic Games FAQ section, you need the following to enjoy Fortnite:
Fortnite is a high-fidelity game that is compatible with devices running 64-bit Android on an ARM64 processor, Android OS 8.0 or higher, minimum 4GB of RAM, and GPU: Adreno 530 or higher, Mali-G71 MP20, Mali-G72 MP12 or higher.
Can I use a Bluetooth controller playing Fortnite on my mobile?
Yes! Most Bluetooth controllers are supported like the Sony PS4 DualShock 4 Wireless Controller (Android OS 10 or newer) and the Xbox Wireless Controller.
How do I connect my PS4 controller to my mobile?
- Turn on Bluetooth on your phone
- Press and hold the PS home button and Share button simultaneously for a couple of seconds, until you see quick blinking lights on the controller
- On your phone, you should see the device ‘Wireless Controller’ appear. Select it and it’ll say ‘connected’ if done successfully
How do I connect the controller in Fortnite?
When you launch Fortnite, your controller that you’ve already connected via Bluetooth should automatically recognise it.
Check settings and click on the icon with a cog and controller to see if it’s switched to ‘on’.
If your controller isn’t responding in the menu or in-game, ensure that it’s still connected and hasn’t dropped out.
If you’re finding that your controller is dropping out via its Bluetooth connection, ensure that the controller is fully charged.
